Gerrard Newrick was born in Cheltenham, England in 1970. He has lived, worked and travelled all over Europe, Africa and Asia before settling in Asturias in northern Spain with his wife and family in 2008.
Gerrard is a self taught artist who is inspired by the architecture and structure of the villages, towns and cities of Spain. The apparently organic sprawl of buildings, streets and cities holds an endless fascination for him in their beauty, irregularity and decay and he creates, with ink and watercolour wash, everyday scenes of urban Spanish life.
